Aerial Apparatus Operator (19 AAO)

A course designed to provide the structural Fire Fighter with the needed knowledge and skills to successfully operate aerial apparatus. A must for departments using aerial apparatus, this course covers such topics as: Types and Construction of Aerial Apparatus, Positioning Aerial Apparatus, Stabilizing Systems, and Maintenance and Testing. This course is based on NFPA 1002, "Standard on Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications" and may lead to a ProBoard certifications.

Fire Officer IV (FOIV-19)

This course is based on NFPA 1021 "Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications" and may lead to ProBoard and IFSAC certifications. This course is specialized for the chief officer who is ready to advance into the upper management level of his/her department. This course consists of subjects designed to give the officer more knowledge of management and administration so that he/she can make basic evaluations of employee relations and assume a more proactive role in his/her department. This is a projects-based class. 
Incident Command for High-Rise Operations (ICHRO-19)
8/1/2019 - RAPSTC/MANSELL Location
This 2-day course is designed to assist emergency response officers who have responsibility for managing highrise incidents. This includes organizing resources, developing strategies, and managing tactical operations to protect life and to minimize damage during an incident. Special Notes: Students attending should have a: Working knowledge of basic Incident Command System organization; Working knowledge of strategy and tactics for structural firefighting; Knowledge of building construction; and understanding of the type of building systems existing in high-rise buildings. Students wishing to have their own copy of the student manual and other handouts for this course should go to the following link to download and print the student manual and any associated handouts or scenarios. Student Manuals Manuals will be provided for students who do not bring their own copy to class. The manuals provided by the Georgia Fire Academy will remain the property of the Georgia Fire Academy and will be collected at the close of the class.  
Incident Command for Structural Collapse Incidents (ICSC-19)
8/29/2019 - RAPSTC/MANSELL Location
This 16-hour course is designed to provide fire officers with an understanding of command operations at structural collapse incidents. Topics include basic command procedures, ICS organizational structure, resource capabilities, scene management, operational considerations and phases, technical rescue, safe operations and effective incident management. This course is intended for individuals who have statutory authority/responsibility and may serve in a unified command structure at a structural collapse; fire command officers. Special Notes: Students attending should understand and be able to apply the Incident Command System (ICS) concept. Students wishing to have their own copy of the student manual and other handouts for this course should go to the following link to download and print the student manual and any associated handouts or scenarios  
NPQ Fire Instructor I (FI1-19)
9/3/2019 - RAPSTC/MANSELL Location
This course is designed to meet NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I qualifications. Students successfully completing this course will receive NPQ Fire Instructor I certification. This instructor training course is designed for instructors who teach from available lesson materials rather than create their own. It provides the foundation of communication skills, adult learning, teaching techniques and classroom management. Participants must select and present a 25-minute block of instruction for successful completion.

Crisis Intervention Training (RPD CIT-19)

The Georgia Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program is a dynamic collaboration of professionals committed to ensuring that persons with mental illnesses and other brain disorders receive treatment, in lieu of incarceration in most cases. The program includes a law enforcement training component delivered via a forty-hour course curriculum approved by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council as follows: Classroom instructional training involving various mental health topics that address mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases. Site visits to local emergency receiving facilities and state psychiatric hospitals. Performance-based training involving the development of de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills via role-play scenarios Law enforcement officers who successfully complete the course are equipped with the skills necessary to safely and effectively respond to individuals with mental health needs and in crisis.
